   Sold Out

This 2019 Matthews Red Mountain Cuvée, a blend of AVA-focused Bordeaux varietals, comes from several small vineyard parcels exclusively within the Red Mountain AVA. The fruit was hand-harvested in the fall, then hand-sorted and fermented using a combination of concrete (55%) and stainless-steel (45%). The free-run juice was aged in French oak (80% new) for 23 months. Only 10 barrels were ultimately selected for this blend, which was bottled in October of 2021.

Tasting Notes

The 2019 Red Mountain Matthews Cuvée presents a deep, dark ruby hue with intense concentration of color. A savory aroma of olive tapenade evolves into the lifted fragrances of five spice, black cherry, and violets. Flavors of black cherry, cherry cola and toasted graham deliver on the promise of the aromatics. The hallmarks of this blend are its full body and rounded mouthfeel, which deliver the complexity for which this powerhouse wine is known.
